General Counsel, New Belgium Brewing Company
Joe graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science, and earned his law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law. Joe currently serves as the General Counsel of New Belgium Brewing Company, maker of Fat Tire Amber Ale and a host of Belgian-inspired beers. Prior to joining New Belgium, Joe was a partner at Sherman & Howard L.L.C., a super-regional law firm based in Denver. He has experience assisting companies on a variety of corporate and finance transactions including mergers and acquisitions, secured and unsecured bank financing, public debt offerings, and general corporate operations matters.
Joe is experienced in all aspects of nonprofit law and provides pro bono legal services to a number of other nonprofit organizations. Joe also sits on the board of directors of Homeless Gear, a nonprofit organization designed to provide homeless individuals with services and support at every stage of homelessness, and Foco Café, a nonprofit community restaurant that operates on a pay what you can model. His life was profoundly influenced by his own grandparents, and he’s excited to be able to assist Wish of a Lifetime in changing the way that society views aging.
Joe resides in Fort Collins, Colorado with his wife Camy and their two sons, Ben and Jack. In his spare time he enjoys biking, skiing, golf, and running with Max, the family’s yellow lab.
