Laurie Schadegg Thomas
Chief Operating Officer, Consonus Healthcare
For Laurie Schadegg Thomas, the arc of an over 35-year career in the health care profession began on a Nebraska farm with lessons she learned from her father, who taught her the value of hard work and importance of doing the right thing whether someone is watching or not. That enduring set of values has guided her first as a physical therapist, then in older adult leadership roles at several large, publicly traded companies, and now at Consonus Healthcare.
In her role as Chief Operating Officer, Laurie is responsible for supporting Consonus Rehab and Pharmacy operations, as well as oversight of Sales and Marketing for the organization. Prior to joining Consonus, Laurie applied her leadership skills in both hospital and post-acute care settings, including key executive positions at RehabCare, Hallmark Rehabilitation, Signature Home Health/Hospice and Genesis Healthcare. Whether providing direct patient therapy, guiding teams through cultural change or leading organizations through operational turnarounds, she’s remained passionate about the geriatric population and helping older adults live full and vibrant lives.
Laurie serves on the board of the Vital Life Foundation, a Portland based organization supporting older adult-based charities where she was first introduced to Wish of a Lifetime. As one of Vital Care’s key charitable partners, Wish of a Lifetime has partnered with Vital Life in events such as Cupid Crew and Journey of Heroes and she is excited to participate as a Wish of a Lifetime board member. She is also a board member for Dreamcatchers, a Phoenix based organization focused on fulfilling dreams for Hospice patients.
Laurie holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy degree from the University of Nebraska, where she played volleyball, and learned valuable lessons about the importance of teamwork in achieving success. Outside of work, she loves photography, traveling and visiting her daughter’s growing family in Austin.
