Commemorate the service of our Veterans like Ignacio with a tax-deductible donation
Ignacio reaches new heights with his first flight at age 95
During World War II, Ignacio’s service took him across the world to the foggy beaches of Normandy.
“I was only 18 years old when I was at the battlefront with General Pat,” he said.
Ignacio’s artillery unit made their way across France and Germany, where they faced bitter cold winters. He was among the brave men who fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
But throughout his entire journey in the U.S. Army, Ignacio never once stepped foot on an airplane. And many years later, Wish of a Lifetime was thrilled to help commemorate his service with a trip through the sky.
At age 95, Ignacio boarded a historic B-24 airplane—just like the ones that flew above him during the war. As Ignacio soared over his home state of Colorado, he expressed that he felt his service to his country was honored through this wish.
It was his first time leaving solid ground, but when it came to flying Ignacio was a natural.
“It was good, I enjoyed it!” he said. “My favorite part was looking down where we were at the waist gun…I was not afraid.”
