Delores R, 100, is a jovial lady whom resides at the Pointe at Newport Place in Boynton Beach, FL. Delores and her husband, Frank shared a common love for music–one that still resonates with her to this day, despite her husband’s passing. Delores will be turning 100 years old on October 10, 2013 and wished that she would be able to reconnect with the timeless music she remembers by having a Johnny Cash impersonator come to her Birthday Celebration.
Delores and her husband were happily married for 78 years. Delores and Frank met when they were just children–not realizing that the love they found would last the rest of their lives. People were known to refer to their relationship as a “fairy tale” because of the unconditional love they showed to each other. Delores spent the last few years with Frank as a care-taker to him. Frank became completely blind and Delores would make sure that he had all his needs taken care of.
One of the largest commonalities that Delores and Frank shared was their admiration for music. They both could be found humming and singing to Johnny Cash, Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra, etc. After the passing of Delores’ husband, she now has to hum these tunes by herself, which has been quite devastating for her. Delores felt that having someone come and sing these memorable tunes to her would bring her closer to Frank and the memories that they had shared throughout their incredible marriage.
Wish of a Lifetime and Brookdale made Delores’ wish a reality by having a Johnny Cash impersonator come and sing to her at the community on October 9, 2013 at 2:00 PM. Delores had 15 family members fly in to town and also had numerous people from the residency celebrating her birthday with her. Delores was impressed with the performance that was put in place in her honor and was even happier she was able to share her 100th Birthday with the people she loves.
