Howard Attends Beach Blanket Babylon

Howard is a youthful 96-year-old that resides at the Brookdale San Jose in California. He has always been passionate about music and dreamed of one day seeing a musical. Howard’s Wish of a Lifetime was to see the Beach Blanket Babylon in San Francisco, and we were happy to oblige.

Howard served in the Navy from 1943-1946 and went on to have a 20- year career as a grade school teacher. He spent his free time volunteering at his church, and continues to volunteer at his Brookdale community. He helps ensure the facilities are clean and reminds people of the importance of recycling. Howard loves people and loves to entertain, so it only makes sense that he would be a dancer. He is skilled at soft shoe dancing and enjoys performing for his community. His weekly top-notch routines, complete with a top hat and cane, are a hit with his fellow residents and make Howard feel alive.

On October 18, 2015 Howard finally got his Wish to see a musical. Brookdale and Wish of a Lifetime sent Howard and his friend, Rebecca, to watch Beach Blanket Babylon, the longest running musical in San Francisco, followed by a personal meet and greet with the cast. Howard said he felt like a “celebrity” and relished the generosity and attention he received. He said that the Wish exceeded all of his hopes and expectations and was happy to have had the opportunity to take in such an iconic show.
