Jay and Shawn Attend the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am

Jay C., 72, residing at The Atrium in San Jose, CA has been a life-long sports fanatic. He worked for years as a physical education teacher and was always active playing tennis, coaching basketball, and baseball. Above all, Jay truly enjoyed one game in particular: golf. His favorite course is Pebble Beach, which is why his Wish of a Lifetime was to go back to the renowned course with his son Shawn.

In 1976, two weeks before Shawn was born, Jay and his brother played golf at Pebble Beach, and since that day, he had always dreamed of playing the same course with his son when he was old enough. Unfortunately, Jay’s son and daughter moved to Detroit with their mother, leaving little time for him to fulfill this Wish. Because of the physical distance between them, Jay felt as though he missed out on many milestones in his son’s life, and would like to make new memories with him before it is too late.

Because of various health issues, Jay has been unable to play golf for several years, but he still loves to watch as often as he can. Since he is no longer able to enjoy playing himself, his dream was to attend the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Because of Jay’s personal sacrifice and passion for sports, Wish of a Lifetime and Brookdale sent Jay and Shawn to Pebble Beach in February of 2015. There they were able to see some of golf’s best compete, bond over their shared passion for the sport, and they took in the beautiful views that Pebble Beach has to offer.
