June, 85, from Appleton, Wisconsin, is described by those who look after her as a very compassionate woman. Unfortunately, for the past 18-20 years she’s been bound to a motorized scooter due to spinal and muscular problems, and has endured difficulties due to her disability. “I don’t get out much. I can’t get in a car and cannot walk,” she said. While living at her Brookdale community, June has been unable to leave on organized outings due to her health. She couldn’t recall the last time she had left her residence for dinner with her family, and Wished she could do this one more time.
Although June encountered hardships throughout her life, she didn’t let that stop her from being active in her community. She volunteered at her childrens’ school and local church. Today, she is always looking out for fellow residents and providing them with help when needed.
Wish of a Lifetime was excited to send June and her family to a dinner at one of her favorite restaurants, Dick and Joan’s, in Appleton, Wisconsin. June wanted nothing more than to enjoy a great meal with her entire family after years of not being able to do so. She said that her favorite part of the experience was simply “…to have them all together.”
