Lucille Attends Air Force Reunion

Lucille, 81, of The Sterling House in Salem, OH, is a proud veteran of the Air Force. She displays her Air Force pictures prominently around her apartment, explaining each of them to new visitors. She has gone to every reunion she possibly could – they are usually the highlight of each year. However, she can no longer drive herself and has not been to a reunion since 2004. More than anything, she would love to have one more chance to get together with her fellow veterans.

Lucille served in the Air Force for 8 years after WWII. She worked in a Supply Unit, working mostly with uniforms. She was honorably discharged because of a medical condition, but she said, “I would have served 20 years if I could have!”

She considers the women at the reunions her family. On October 9, 2012, Wish of a Lifetime and Brookdale Senior Living sent Lucille to North Carolina for her Women in the Air Force reunion! She had a wonderful time catching up with old friends, and she was even interviewed on the local news.
