Nick is known in his Brookdale community as the “dancing man.” He relishes every opportunity to dance, and encourages others to do the same. He tried to teach the employees at his community how to ballroom dance, but they struggled to keep up with his advanced technique, therefore, Nick’s Wish of a Lifetime is to teach a dance class at a local studio with students who know a bit more about dancing.
Nick grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He served in the Army from March 1956 through December 1957 as a Private First Class and went on to work as a civil engineer, but his heart was always on the dance floor. When he retired from civil engineering Nick decided to pursue his passion full time, and began working as a dance host on a cruise ship. Nick loved his time on the cruise ship. Not only was he able to share his love of dance, he also got to dance with all the women who didn’t have a partner.
Although Nick has developed Alzheimer’s, he maintains a positive attitude, in part because of dancing. It provides Nick relief from his day to day routine and continues to be something he looks forward to and values. Wish of a Lifetime and Brookdale were happy to help Nick continue to share his love of dance. On December 8, 2015, Nick taught a ballroom dance class with friend Aida Rivers, and enjoyed every moment of teaching his students some new moves!
