Sue Gazes At Thunder Over Louisville

Sue, 77, of Brookdale Blankenbaker in Louisville, Kentucky is an outgoing, happy lady with a love for new adventures. Her dream was to view the Thunder Over Louisville event from the Galt House Hotel. This event consists of an air show followed by a fireworks show. To Sue, the Thunder Over Louisville event represents the embodiment of freedom. She felt that having the opportunity to watch the planes and the fireworks above her head would nearly put tears in her eyes because she feels it symbolizes the soldiers overseas who are fighting for our freedom. Sue had never had the opportunity to attend the actual event, and wished to be there in person to spectate the show.

Sue has always had a passion for helping other people. Prior to her residency at her Brookdale community, she volunteered at an elementary school helping children with school work, crafts, and recess. Currently she is a Welcome Ambassador, helping the new residents that come into the community to settle in. Sue also enjoys helping to decorate for events at the community and is in charge of hosting “block parties” for the other residents. She is constantly caring for her husband and keeping a positive outlook on life.

Wish of a Lifetime and Brookdale were excited to send Sue to the 2016 Thunder Over Louisville event with her husband, Sam. On April 23, Sue’s dream of seeing the fireworks and air show finally came true. Sue felt like she fully embraced American values and showed appreciation to those brave men and women that serve and fight for our freedom. Sue, Sam, and a few other friends and family gathered as they watched the events through out the day. At 3 PM there was the aerial show and at 9 PM they watched the fireworks burst over the Ohio River. Sue stated, “it was much more than I expected.” The event was even more special since she was able to share it with so many people she loved.
