Vincent Flies on a Jet Fighter

Vincent is a free-spirited, adventurous, 68 year-old who has always had a fascination for flight. His wish of a lifetime is to experience flight on a jet fighter plane. Growing up, Vincent had always wanted to be a fighter pilot, but his vision was not good enough. He eventually realized he had to give up his dream, and decided to go to school to become an aeronautical engineer. His thought was “since I can’t fly jet fighters, I’ll build them!”

Vincent worked with children for over 30 years. He started volunteering in college at the YMCA, working with boys and girls whose parents were gone all day and left them alone. He also started and ran the after school program. After graduating college, Vincent worked with juvenile offenders as a probation officer for many years. He helped rehabilitate criminals and turn them into responsible adults. He later worked for 25 years in different departments of county child protective services protecting children from neglect and physical abuse from their parents, relatives, and strangers.

Vincent really enjoyed helping others in need and he feels that he fulfilled his need of helping people. He still has one more need to fill in life, and that is his need for speed! On May 22, 2013 Vincent traveled from Vacaville, California to Los Angeles, California to finally fulfill his need for speed. He took off in an L-39 Albatros fighter jet for a 45 minute flight. Vincent described his flight as an “exhilarating experience.”
