Wylie Attends a Dallas Cowboys Game

Wylie, 80, of Dallas, Texas, is by far the biggest Dallas Cowboys fan in his community, Brookdale Preston, and has been since he was young. The Dallas Cowboys have been a constant presence in Wylie’s life—from the decorations in his room to his clothes, what he watches on TV to what he talks about. Wylie fondly remembers attending games growing up. One time he met Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys. Wylie’s Wish of a Lifetime was to once again attend a Dallas Cowboys home game to celebrate his love of the team.

In addition to being a Cowboys fan, Wylie is also a Navy veteran who served on the USS Midway. He served in the military for 5 years. After that, Wylie continued to give back to his community by volunteering at his church.

Wylie recently moved into assisted living, which has been a difficult adjustment. One thing that seems to “calm” him down is talking about his passion for the Dallas Cowboys. Wylie often watches re-runs of games and as well as all of the new games on TV. Due to his health decline, Wylie has not been able to attend a game in many years.

Wish of a Lifetime and Brookdale Senior Living were thrilled to send Wylie to attend a Dallas Cowboys game versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with his Brookdale Resident Programs Coordinator, Shantina. Before the game, he was even able to go onto the field. “I had fun. It was something else,” said Wylie. “[I had] the best time sitting in the stands and seeing how many people came together in the stadium.”
