Leron and Betty met over sixty years ago and have shared two loves for the last six decades—each other (they’ve had a very happy marriage of 59 years) and the FSU Seminoles. Betty and Leron worked at blue collar jobs for their entire careers, Leron as a telephone line repairman after his service in the U.S army and Betty as a secretary for an engineering firm. Although the couple struggled financially for their entire lives, they were able to send their son, Bob, to college debt-free. Betty and Leron have always been involved in their faith and in helping others in the community. Leron was always helping older adults and vulnerable families. After a lifetime of hard work and service, the couple wished to reconnect with their favorite football team one last time and visit the college campus that meant so much to them for so many years.
Betty has loved football since she used to go watch her brother’s high school football games. When Betty met Leron, who has been an FSU fan since he was very young, they formed their relationship around a passion for the Seminoles football team. Leron and Betty have watched every game together for six decades and were season ticket holders for almost twenty years. Although the couple is not able to go and watch the game with the FSU community anymore, they still love the team and follow all of the games, regardless of day or time.
Together, Wish of A Lifetime and Brookdale Senior Living were proud to send Leron and Betty to their first football game in more than a decade. Leron and Betty, along with their son Bob and a family friend, were able to see their favorite campus and cheer on their favorite team one last time. Betty and Bob very much enjoyed their Wish and have been smiling ever since they got to watch their Florida State Seminoles defeat Boston College.
