Betty H., 86, from Brookdale Pikesville in Baltimore, MD, collected autographs as a child. As a girl, Betty would wait outside of the Hippodrome Theater in Baltimore and get autographs from the actors and actresses as they left. As an adult, Betty became a big fan of Tom Selleck. Betty’s daughter, Bridget remembers coming home from school and seeing a big Magnum PI poster on the refrigerator. Betty dreamed of getting personalized autographed memorabilia from her favorite actor, Tom Selleck.
Betty first became a fan of Tom Selleck back in the 1980s when Magnum PI started, and continues to watch him on TV today. Betty admires Tom’s compassionate and conservative values, voice and acting skills, and laughs about how she’s “always been attracted to him!” Tom has made Betty smile and laugh through difficult times throughout her life, including when Betty was diagnosed with cancer about 2 months ago. He continues to be an inspiration for Betty today.
With the help of CBS, Wish of a Lifetime and Brookdale Senior Living were able to get Betty two autographed photos from Tom Selleck. One photo was a personalized Magnum PI picture saying “For Betty From Tom Selleck.” The other autographed photo featured Tom Selleck with his Blue Bloods family. Betty said this wish made her “feel like I died and went to heaven! This wish means everything to me. I’m 86 years old, but I feel like I’m 18.” Betty was surprised with the two Tom Selleck autographed photos at a Tom Selleck birthday party on January 19, 2017. The morning after the party, Betty said “The photos are already hanging in my room. They were the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes this morning.”
