Bobbie Goes to Nashville

84 year-old Bobbie grew up in small-town Texas. As she puts it, “I’ve never done anything out of the ordinary and I have never smoked or had a drink in my life.” Bobbie’s Wish of a Lifetime was to go to Nashville and see a country music concert at the Grand Ole Opry. Bobbie’s Wish will consist of many firsts, as she has never flown on an airplane before and has never been outside the state of Texas. Bobbie describes her life as a “simple and quiet” one. She lost her husband at a young age and worked well into her 70s to help support her family, and because of this she just never had the time to travel. She grew up listening to country music like the late George Jones (another fellow small-town Texan) and always had a dream of making it out to the Grand Ole Opry for a show. Bobbie said that Nashville will be the only big city that she has ever been to.

Bobbie currently serves as a Welcome Ambassador at Brookdale Waxahachie and she also volunteers with Meals on Wheels with four other women from her community, taking meals to the homes of people in need. Bobbie’s trip will be an adventure of all sorts for her.

Brookdale Senior Living and Wish of a Lifetime were happy to send Bobbie to Nashville, Tennessee, where she saw her first big country concert at the Grand Ole Opry with her granddaughters Tammy and Tasha. Not only did she enjoy the show from the 4th row, country music performers Little Big Town gave her a special shout out during the middle of their set!
