Ed Races Down Bandimere Speedway

Edward, 78, of Denver, CO, has always had a passion for cars. On the day Ed turned 16, he went out and bought his first car with his dad–a 1938 Ford. Ed has owned over 20 cars throughout his life. Ed’s Wish of a Lifetime was to take his first ride in a Corvette.

Ed was a cab driver for 20 years and the president of the Denver Cab Union for 10 of those years. Unfortunately, in 2004 Ed lost both of his legs and his ability to drive, due to diabetes. Ed also lives with Parkinson’s; but despite his many obstacles, Ed remains positive and is ready for anything that comes his way.

On July 24, 2013, Wish of a Lifetime sent Ed to Bandimere Speedway to race in a 2004 commemorative edition blue coupe Corvette convertible. Ed raced down the speedway twice going over 100 mph hours and even beat a cop! Ed said, “I hate to use the word “awesome” because it’s so overused but that is the best way to describe it.”
