Florence M, 91, of Sterling House of Deptford in New Jersey, loves dancing. She started going to dance halls when she was 14 years old, and fell in love with it. Since Florence still finds so much joy in dancing, her Wish is to experience a social ballroom dance event to see the dances she loved growing up.
Florence would go dancing every night while growing up in South Philadelphia. She loved to jitterbug, swing dance and waltz. Many saw her as a beautiful dancer and all the boys loved to dance with her. One night, while Florence was at a dance hall, a young man walked in, saw Florence, nudged his friend and said, “That is the girl I’m going to marry.” After one year of dating, the two got married when Florence was 23. The couple continued to dance together for five years, until Florence’s husband passed away from a fever. After her husband passed away, Florence still found joy in dancing.
Wish of a Lifetime, with the assistance of Brookdale Senior Living, sent Florence to a ballroom dance event near her town. Florence danced the night away with her family, friends, and other older adults.
