Gloria J., 83, is a resident of Horizon Bay, a Brookdale community in Arlington, TX. Over the past year, she has faced several health issues she was able to overcome with the love and support of her family. Gloria’s family includes three children, four grandchildren, and as of August 2013, one great-grandson. Her Wish of a Lifetime was to meet her great-grandson for the very first time.
Gloria worked hard throughout her life to help provide for her three daughters, who she raised in Oklahoma. She managed the restaurant that was originally owned by her father before working in home mortgage banking for several years. After her retirement, Gloria spent a significant amount of time volunteering at her local church.
In August of 2013 Gloria’s granddaughter, Sara, gave birth to her first son, Jacob. As Gloria has had health complications over the last few years, she was concerned about traveling and she worried she would never be able to meet him. Thanks to Wish of a Lifetime and Brookdale, on April 4th, 2014, Gloria finally met Jacob. Gloria was overwhelmed with excitement as Sara and Jacob walked through the door, and she began to cry. The weekend was one the family will never forget.
