Jan, 78, is a mother of three and committed member of her community. She has spent many years giving back as a member of her church’s women’s groups and is always readily available to bake for congregants who are going through a tough time. Aside from being a loving and committed mother, she has devoted the last few years of her life to caring for her husband, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. However, Jan’s selfless and positive demeanor was tested last year after she was diagnosed with cancer. She fought hard and is currently in remission, but the experience forced her to deal with mortality and consider her most important and special memories.
When Jan was sick she used to cry out for South Padre Island, the town that she and her husband travelled to several times when they were younger. She reflected that her vacations there were some of the most wonderful times of her life, and her Wish was to visit one more time. Wish of a Lifetime was absolutely thrilled to send Jan and her daughter Kim to South Padre for three amazing days. Jan and Kim enjoyed great weather, delicious food, and a precious chance to create memories together.
