Jane Attends Annual Church Picnic

Johanna “Jane”, 95, of the Brookdale Place of Bath, has attended her church’s annual picnic for almost 40 years. She always helped with the coordination and looked forward to the raffle events each year.

Jane was profoundly committed to her church community. She went to mass twice a day and helped with absolutely anything the church needed. She moved away and was not been able to attend mass, but she continued serving those around her. Jane has a true servant’s heart. In her older adult community, she knits gifts for other residents and the staff and is constantly looking for ways to lend a hand.

Though she continues to love life, she misses her church and her friends dearly. This year would have been the first that she would not be able to attend her church’s picnic. She thought it was too far away to ask for a ride, as she no longer drives.

Wish of a Lifetime and Brookdale Senior Living sent Jane to her picnic on August 5th, 2012! The church’s staff set aside time during the program to announce her presence and gave her a certificate, congratulating her for decades of service and faithfulness! She went to mass in the morning and then spent the afternoon with old friends, eating and enjoying the live music. She said it was more than she could have asked for and did not stop talking about it when she returned home!
