Juanita B., 88, of Glenwood Gardens in Bakersfield, California is a dedicated mother with an extensive background in mission work. Juanita has used her experiences with her mission work to drive her desire to overcome any fears or obstacles that she may encounter in life. Juanita has desired to take a hot air balloon flight for numerous years, but was always hesitant to attempt such an adventurous task.
After a 6 month, life-altering mission trip to Gaza, Israel with her husband in 1980, they returned to the United States and used their retirement funds to spend the next 6 years serving others on mission work in the southern part of the United States. During this time, Juanita’s desire to live her life to the fullest and conquer all of her fears grew. Juanita and her daughter, Carol, are incredibly close, and have both always wanted to ride in a hot air balloon above California. Juanita felt as if riding in a hot air balloon would give her a sense of freedom while she was floating through the air.
Wish of a Lifetime and Brookdale were excited to help Juanita and Carol take their very first hot air balloon flight. Juanita’s other daughter, Susie, was also able to accompany them on the hot air balloon ride. Juanita was thrilled that she was able to experience her first flight with both of her daughters. When asked about her incredible experience, Juanita stated “At 88 you feel there are no more exciting experiences that will happen to you, but you changed that”.
