Louise, 88, currently resides at Brookdale Parkplace in Denver, CO. For many years her husband, Lou, served in the US Army Air Corp (US Air Force) which took the family across the United States regularly and even to Japan for 4 years. Being on the road traveling from one city to the next – from one home to the next – created an emotionally difficult situation for Louise and her sister. During Lou’s service career, Louise did not see her sister often, and now has not seen her sister in nearly 5 years again. Louise wished to reconnect with her sister in San Diego, CA, and with the help of Wish of a Lifetime and Brookdale, she was finally able to see her beloved sister once again.
Throughout most of Louise’s adult life she did not get to see her sister very often since she and her family were constantly on the move, and later she was serving as a caregiver to her husband. As the sisters have aged, it has become more and more difficult for them to see one another due to various medical ailments. Louise’s wish of a lifetime was to have the opportunity to travel to see her sister in Poway, CA. Family has always been very important to Louise. While her husband was serving in the Army Air Corp, she was caring for their 5 children. She also became very active in volunteering in Family Services through the Army Air Corp. She would help other military families by meeting them, conducting interviews, and trying to help them in any way possible. She has also volunteered through her church and a local hospital in Milwaukee.
Wish of a Lifetime and Brookdale made Louise’s wish come true in June 2017 by sending her and her daughter, Lisa, to Poway, CA for three nights. Louise was very grateful to get the time to spend with her sister that she felt like she missed out on a lot of her life.
