Marieda is a sweet 85-year-old woman from Augusta, Kansas. Living on a farm in rural Kansas during the depression, Marieda’s mother passed away when Marieda was only seven, leaving her the responsibility of caring for her three younger siblings. Now, at 85, Marieda has been through so much: she lost her husband, two daughters, a son, and is now suffering from her own medical ailments that have left her on hospice care. What Marieda wished for most is a visit from her daughter Susan and her grandson Nathaniel who live in Georgia.
On June 7th, Wish of a Lifetime made Marieda’s Wish a reality by sending Susan and Nathaniel to Kansas to spend the week with her. On the second day of their visit, Marieda’s sick brother made a surprise appearance, which brought tears to her eyes. The family shared stories, good food, and company. Marieda said that her daughter and grandson’s visit made for a truly memorable experience.
