5 WWII Veterans Commemorate Service in Washington, D.C.

Five WWII veterans from Colorado Springs, CO and Covington, TN had all wished to see the WWII Memorial at the National Mall in Washington, DC. For all of them, this was the first and only chance they had to have their Wishes come true. Each one of them and their families had the chance to see the memorial erected in honor of their amazing service.

The group was made up of 12 people. Helen, Bill, Andrew, Glenn, and Steve made up our WWII veteran constituents – accompanied by family members – but 3 wars were represented. Jack Artman, escort to the group, is a veteran of the Korean War and Cindy Abrahamson, Wish of a Lifetime Volunteer, is a Vietnam veteran. The group enjoyed a 2 day tour of Washington, DC. On Tuesday April 3rd, 2012 the group toured the National Mall making the WWII Memorial their first stop followed by the Korean, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Vietnam memorials. On Wednesday April 4th the group took a tour of Arlington National Cemetery and the Women in Military Service of America Memorial.

Upon returning home, each veteran exclaimed that they had the most wonderful of times. They all said it was a Wish come true and an experience they will never ever forget.
