Bill and Ev Turn Up The Heat in Birmingham, Alabama

Bill and Everett, 87 and 88 respectively, are two positive men who met while their wives were ill at their Brookdale community. Bill and Everett immediately became friends and have supported each other through good times and bad times ever since. Bill spent his entire career as a pastor and Everett spent 41 years working for Consumers Energy Co., 5 yrs at Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce and 5 years at Ingham Regional Medical Center during his selfless career.

Bill and Everett both had incredible success in their careers and has used that determination to help them achieve success athletically. Both Bill and Everett won the gold medal in the javelin and shot put older adult games in Michigan last summer, earning them a trip to the National Senior Games in Birmingham, Alabama this summer. Bill and Everett trained every day for their events, and despite their age, their work habit amazes and inspires fellow residents.

Wish of a Lifetime and Brookdale were very proud to be able to honor Bill and Ev through sending them to Birmingham, Alabama with their companions on 6/6/2017 and following them as they competed in their events. Ev and Bill both competed admirably and thoroughly relished their ‘rock star’ status. Ev said that he continues to be blown away by the experience and Bill’s friend Jayne said that watching Ev and Bill compete was an overwhelmingly positive experience. Bill and Ev will continue to prove to their fellow older adults and society at large of their inspiration, and Wish of a Lifetime was so grateful to play a small role in their incredible story.
