Bill Recreates Special Moments

Bill, age 77, grew up in Chicago with his long-time childhood sweetheart and later wife, Yvonne. William’s wife passed away in 2001 and he hasn’t visited their old neighborhood for many years. His Wish of a Lifetime is to go home and visit his wife’s grave and the places they enjoyed together.

Bill spent the last 3 years of his wife’s life as her primary caregiver. Although losing her has been Bill’s biggest challenge, he has found a unique way to deal with it. Bill recently sent out a shipment of 550 knitted hats to 11 cancer centers. Bill has knitting about dozen a day for the last 2 years. He remembers all of the help he and his wife got when she was sick and how important it is to give back.

Brookdale and Wish of a Lifetime are honored to be sending him back to Chicago on July 9th to visit his late wife’s grave, eat lunch at their favorite diner, and spend time at the Bhai Temple in Wilmette. Bill and Yvonne came from very different religious backgrounds and complicated family situations and this was a place where they found peace and happiness together. His sister Martha and a friend from Pleasant Prairie joined Bill on this trip!
