Journey Of Heroes 2015

Over four years ago, Wish of a Lifetime partnered with The Vital Life Foundation to create the Journey of Heroes, a trip to honor veterans for their incredible sacrifices. The forth annual Journey of Heroes took place from October 21st – 24th, 2015, and was a complete success. Thirteen veterans representing the Vietnam War, Korean War, and WWII traveled to our nation’s capital to see the memorials built in their honor.

Highlights from the trip included visits to the Vietnam, Korean, and WWII memorials, a visit to Arlington National Cemetery, a tour of the Udvar-Hazy Center, and sightseeing in Washington D.C. Each veteran was thanked by elementary, middle, and high school students for their service while at the memorials, and some even received letters from children thanking them for their service. Another highlight of the trip was a warm and welcoming gathering at American Legion Post 86 in Rockville, Maryland the last night of our trip.

“This is the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” said Ken Tucker, a WWII Veteran that joined us on the trip. Similar sentiments were shared throughout the trip by a number of veterans, as each and every stop seemed to be even more meaningful than the last. Thanks to the companions and support staff on this year’s trip, our itinerary was seamless and it made for incredible experience for everyone involved. Wish of a Lifetime and The Vital Life Foundation hope to continue to make dreams come true for veterans each and every year.
