Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Elmer Relives Game Days!

Elmer J. is an 88-year-old former World War II Navy vet and semi-pro football player. Elmer served in the Navy and spent time on active duty, fighting in the South Pacific. Elmer’s Wish of a Lifetime is to attend a Pittsburgh Steelers game, to relive some of his most exciting memories from when he was a long-time season ticket holder.

Elmer is an extremely avid football fan and hasn’t been able to go to a game since he moved to New Jersey. He grew up in Pittsburgh and began playing football when he was only six years old. He played semi-pro football throughout his twenties, and then played until he was well into his sixties. Elmer was in a bad accident while working in a factory in Pittsburgh when he was 20, and it ended up costing him his right arm.

Though it was very difficult for Elmer, losing his arm didn’t stop him from playing football. The local newspaper heard that this one-armed linemen was playing in a Pittsburgh football league, and featured him in an article. Elmer attended a Pittsburgh Steelers game on November 10, 2013 with his daughter and son-in-law. He was able to relive some great memories and create many new ones. Elmer loved attending a game sharing the experience with his daughter and son-in-law!
