Annette K. is an 88-year-old resident of Brookdale North Boynton Beach in Florida. Annette has always loved magic and her wish was to have a magician come to her community to astound her and the other residents with amazing feats and illusions!
Annette has never seen a live magic show before even though it is something she has wanted to do ever since she was a little girl. She recalls first seeing magic when her uncle would entertain the kids at family gatherings and being instantly intrigued. As Annette grew up, magic never ceased to amaze her. Annette’s favorite magician is Harry Houdini and she still enjoys watching old footage of his stunts and escapes. Annette loves trying to work out how the tricks are done for herself but thinks that it is very important that the magician keeps his secrets.
Annette is a very giving person and is constantly looking for ways to be helpful and involved in her community. Annette especially enjoys creating things which she can then share with others in need. Her current project is a quilt which will go to a children’s hospital cancer ward. Even though shaky hands make it difficult, Annette works diligently on the quilt every day and often talks about how happy she is that it will be enjoyed by children who are sick.
On May 19, 2015, Wish of a Lifetime and Brookdale were thrilled to bring professional magician Mio to Annette’s community to grant her wish! Mio and his assistant performed all kinds of tricks and illusions for Annette and the other residents at the community. Annette got to assist Mio with some of his tricks and helped to amaze the rest of the audience. After the performance, Annette said that she loved the show and that Mio was a fantastic magician.
